The Sanford Project
Finding a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes
No More Pokes
At five years old, Ben Calsbeek knows what it means to have type 1 diabetes. “It means you get pokes, and it means you need to have insulin after breakfast or dinner or lunch,” says Ben.
Diabetes has no cause. And there is no cure. Just a promise. A promise made that someday soon there will be a cure. And it will come from the dedicated researchers at Sanford Health. In 2008, we pledged to resolve one of the most pressing health issues of our day. Today, Sanford Health is fulfilling that promise as we work to cure type 1 diabetes.
We will do this by partnering with the world’s leading researchers. By employing patient-centered, practice-based research. And by doing whatever it takes to find a way to harness the body’s own power to stop the devastation of type 1 diabetes.
It is our promise: that one day, there will be no more pokes.![]()
